Houston Comites in Washington DC for consulate coordination meeting

A summary of the event in Washington DC

Consulate Coordination Meeting

On 13 and 14 October, the annual plenary consular coordination meeting was held in Washington DC, chaired by the Italian ambassador to the USA Mariangela Zappia, with the Consuls General, the Presidents of the Com.It.Es. of the USA, the parliamentarians elected in the North and Central America division, the Councilors of the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE) for the United States, the Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes, the Headmasters of the Italian schools abroad, to presence of the Director General for Italians Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Luigi Vignali.

The meeting was a fruitful opportunity to discuss the activities proposed by each institution and discuss critical issues, while reflecting on the crucial importance of services, meetings and events and promote Italian culture and knowledge.

Houston Comites activities

During the meeting, the President of Houston Com.It.Es. Salvo Saieva illustrated the activities carried out by our Committee during this year underlining three aspects: the collaboration with WSC ISSNAF as part of the integrative project dedicated to the research community, the initiatives on mental health, the involvement of citizens, as demonstrated from the meeting with the Austin community in the presence of the Consul General. It emerged that Com.It.Es. of Houston appears to be among the most active in terms of activities and support for citizens.

These occasions are useful to highlight that the Italian system abroad is committed daily to guaranteeing efficient services to citizens, paying attention to the needs of the community, promoting Italian culture and knowledge and supporting the creation of networks and effective collaborations between institutions and associations of the territory
